Chico’s Dirty Tacos and Tequila Opens May 5

Chico’s Dirty Tacos and Tequila, a new concept from Angel Cortes, is scheduled to take over the space that was briefly held by Smokehouse Barbecue on Central Boulevard. Before Smokehouse the space was occupied by Crooked Bayou. Chico’s DT&T will feature the cuisine of Mexico — not Tex-Mex — with salsas, tortillas and other products prepared fresh daily.

This will be the prototype for what is planned to be a fast growing chain, with 10 locations scheduled to open before the end of the year. Cortes is also involved with the just-opened Terrace 390. He also owns Vain nightclub.

The space has recently been renovated with a sports bar mien and features 14 large flat-screen televisions. The bar is claiming the downtown’s largest tequila and mezcal collection — 240 — and is promising to make a mean margarita.

As for the tacos, I can’t say for certain that they’ll actually be dirty, but I hope to find out soon (actually, I hope to find out otherwise). Chico’s is planning to serve breakfast, as well. Huevos rancheros — I’m there. The restaurant is slated to open on Cinco de Mayo, which falls on May 5th this year.

Chico’s will be at 50 E. Central Blvd., Orlando. Here’s a link to the Chico’s Dirty Tacos and Tequila website. Phone is 407-422-6299.
