Tonight’s the night (March 29, 2011) the food trucks roll into Orlando. Well, they’ve been rolling through Orlando and the region for some time now, but tonight a caravan of them will gather in one place for TheDailyCity.com Orlando Food Truck Bazaar. This will be the first of what lead organizer Mark Baratelli promises to be a “recurring” event. He isn’t sure how often, but he says there will definitely be more.
That’s because the response has been immense. Baratelli has nine trucks lined up for the event, and nearly 500 people have indicated they plan to attend on the event’s Facebook page. Scott Joseph’s Orlando Restaurant Guide is one of the co-sponsors tonight.
There is no fee to attend, and parking is free. But you’re going to want to bring cash to purchase the food from the individual trucks — none of the trucks accept credit cards or checks. And you may want to throw a chair in your car so you’ll have something to sit on — the trucks might have a chair or two, or maybe a counter to lean on, but don’t count on it (and there certainly won’t be enough for 500 people).
And, yes, there may be a little rain at the beginning of the evening, so an umbrella and shoes you don’t mind getting wet should be part of your ensemble. But the trucks promise to be there rain or shine. Not likely to be a lot of shine at 7 p.m., but you get the idea.
TheDailyCity.Com Orlando Food Truck Bazaar will be held at the Farmers Market at Discovery Church, 4400 S. Orange Ave., Orlando (just north of Holden Avenue). The hours are 7 to 10 p.m. Hope to see you there.
