The Orlando Weekly, a local newspaper that comes out, um, once a week, kicks off its annual Restaurant Week today. Participating restaurants will offer lunch or dinner at prix fixe prixes of $10, $15, $25 or $35 depending on the restaurant and type of food. Click here to see the whole list with links to the menus.
Looking over the list — which somehow looks smaller than in years past, though I can’t say that for certain — there are a few good bargains. For example, a 10 buck lunch at Shula’s 347 or Crave, or $25 for dinner at K Restaurant or La Nuova Cucina. The $35 table d’hote will get you dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Funky Monkey Wine Company or Vines Grille & Wine bar, among others. (Laughably, The Melting Pot on Sand Lake Road is also in the $35 dinner list, which brought a you-have-got-to-be-freakin’-kidding-me reaction.)
I’ve lined up the places I’ll be visiting during the week. It’s a strict seven days, by the way, beginning today, April 29, and concluding Wednesday, May 5. Better hurry.
