Smoked Bison Cocktail from The Hangry Bison

Written By Scott Joseph On February 11, 2019

Hangry smoked bison

The Hangry Bison in Winter Park Village is known for its burgers — it recently won the Best Burger Foodster Award for Independent Restaurants.

But it has great cocktails, too, and its signature drink, The smoked Bison, is a real show stopper. The Bison’s Fernando Prince shows you how they make it in this episode of On the House. And if you don’t have a big glass dome for the smoky reveal like they do at Hangry, he’ll show you how to get some of the same smoky effect at home.

Watch the video then give the recipe a try.

The Smoked Bison

2.5 oz Basil Hayden Bourbon
3 dashes Angostura bitters
.25 oz simple syrup
Rosemary sprig
Orange peel or twist
Luxardo cherry for garnish

Place bourbon, bitters and simple syrup in a mixing glass.

Torch a sprig of rosemary then cover the sprig with a glass to capture the smoke.

Add ice to cocktail mixture and stir for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain over large ice cube in the smoked rocks glass with expressed orange peel/twist and Luxardo cherry garnish.
