Rustic Table

Park Station exterior

Park Station was the name of the restaurant that opened in 2015 at 212 Park Ave. N. in Winter Park. The restaurant that is there now is called Rustic Table. The name is the only real change here.

It’s the same owners, same concept. Even the menu is basically the same. So why the name change? I couldn’t hazard a guess. Well, I could, but it would just be conjecture based on hearsay. Suffice to say that the owner felt a need to do so.

As with my review of Park Station in October of 2015, my experience at Rustic Station…I mean Table was a mostly pleasant one. The food was good, service was amiable, and the chance to dine at a sidewalk table on Park Avenue added allure.

Rustic shepherd

I had the Shepherd’s Pie, with carrots and peas blended with ground meat and served in a crock under a dome of whipped potatoes. It was a substantial portion, and while the flavor was not quite as big, it was good enough.

Rustic fish

My lunch date had the sandwich called the Water Club, which might sound like it would be soggy but is really just a way of calling it a fish sandwich. A fairly straightforward one at that, with a fried grouper fillet that flopped over the sides of the bun, which also had onions, tomato and tartar sauce. (There’s never enough tartar sauce for my taste.) The sandwich was accompanied by a stack of fries.

Our server was pleasant and answered questions with ease. Best part of the meal was sitting on the sidewalk and enjoying the intramural sport of people watching.

That’s always amusing whatever the name of the restaurant.

Rustic Table is at 212 Park Ave. N., Winter Park. It is open for lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The phone number is 407-853-4101.
