Todo Sushi

Written By Scott Joseph On January 21, 2020

Todo exterior

I don’t think a whole lot more could go wrong with my meal at Todo Sushi than it did.

First I ordered the Sashimi Combo and got the Sushi and Sashimi Combo. Because I had ordered only sashimi, or so I thought, I also ordered a separate yellowtail nigirizushi by the piece.

Regardless of which item I had ordered, or the server thought I had ordered, it was to come with both salad and miso soup. Neither arrived.

The sashimi was ice cold. I don’t think it could have warmed up much because the temperature in the dining room was frigid. I kept my jacket on as did the other diners and at least one staff member.

Todo nigiri

The nigiri was little more than a slice of fish limply placed over a pad of rice.

Todo jars

Instead of serving wads of wasabi paste and pickled ginger on the sushi plate, those items are offered in communal jars for you to help yourself.

The dining room is vast and uninteresting. This was previously a Zona Fresca zone and it seems little was done other than to add some Japanese panels over the rough-hewn wood wall panels and to hang some curtain panels over the sushi bar. Which, it should be mentioned, is not a bar – there is no seating.

The staff? Couldn’t have been nicer. Apologized profusely when each mistake was pointed out. Even said sorry after handing me the bill for the full amount.

I’m sorry, too.

Todo Sushi is at 1035 Orlando Ave. Winter Park (at the corner of Lee Road). It is open for lunch and dinner daily. The phone number is 407-951-8183.
