STK Brunch

STK Orlando outside

I always associate STK, the vibrant restaurant at Disney Springs, with upscale dinners. The steakhouse, with its classy interior featuring impressive floral displays and elegant decorations, has always been a good choice for a special occasion dinner. But it turns out STK is a good choice for weekend brunch – yes, in full daylight – and I was invited recently to sample some of what it offers.

STK has a bottomless mimosa or bloody mary option for $30 but I chose to have the cocktail called French Love, which was a take on the popular French 75 with Hendrick’s Gin, a splash of Chandon sparkling wine and some lemon juice to tart it up. Very refreshing.

STK Orlando wagyu brgrs

My brunch companion and I started with the Lil’ BRGS, which are STK’s (I’d like to buy a vowel) version of sliders but made with wagyu beef. The juicy patties were draped with melted cheese and served on toasted and seeded buns.

STK Orlando wedge salad

I can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed a salad as much as I did the Blue Iceberg, a thick wedge, cold and crisp, topped with Point Reyes blue cheese dressing – with lots of blue chunks – and finished with applewood smoked bacon and cherry tomatoes that burst with juiciness.

STK Orlando pork belly benedict

My friend chose the pork belly Benedict for an entree, with the elevated bacon on toasted English muffins topped with perfectly poached eggs graced with velvety hollandaise.

STK Orlando truffle steak and egg

I chose the truffle steak & egg, which had an eight-ounce wagyu flat iron steak, cooked to the requested medium rare. It sat on a slice of brioche bread that was slathered in truffle butter. A hole was cut into the bread and the egg was fried with the bread. This was known to me as a nest egg when I was growing up. And the crispy fries that were served with it looked sort of like a bird’s nest, too. So, nostalgia.

STK Orlando desserts

For dessert we had a sampler that included the Bag o’ Donuts (I would have called them DNTS) with a variety of dipping sauces; a rich New York style cheesecake with raspberries; a thick and chunky apple pie; and an impossibly chocolatey chocolate cake.

Our server was confident and friendly, and we enjoyed our table at the open doors overlooking the patio – like being outdoors without being outdoors. The entertainment featured a real live saxophonist accompanying the recorded music.

A pleasant and enjoyable brunch.

STK is at Disney Springs, 1580 E. Buena Vista Drive, Orlando (map). It is open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday; lunch and dinner daily. The phone number is 407-917-7440.
