Spice Road Table
Spice Road Table is the newest restaurant to open at Epcot, part of the Morocco pavilion in the World Showcase. Not inside the pavilion, mind you, outside, in front of it, on the shore of the lagoon. It’s a setup much like what opened last year at the Mexico pavilion.
The menu isn’t exclusively Moroccan. By giving it a Spice Road theme, the developers were able to widen the scope, borrowing from the dishes and flavors of the countries along the legendary explorers’ route. And the various dishes are presented as Mediterranean Small Plates (thank you for not calling them tapas).
Oddly, given the name, most of the dishes have rather muted spicing. Ask for a side of harissa with whatever you order and you'll be fine....

I can’t think of a cuisine that has grown in its representation in the area more than Thai. And a great majority of them are worth trying, too.
One of the few geographical pockets without a Thai restaurant -- or without many nonchain restaurants at all, for that matter -- is the neighborhood near Orlando International Airport. Now Spice Thai is filling that void.
Spice Thai is in a Semoran Boulevard strip mall that is anchored by a Miller’s Ale House, which always seems to be overflowingly popular. That was also the case on the evening that I visited Spice Thai, but the much smaller newcomer was doing a pretty good business, too.
Those of us who pass through this area only on our way to and from the airport forget that there are surrounding neighborhoods with lots of hungry people living in them. It’s nice that they have another non-corporate choice for dining....

Stasio's Italian Deli & Market
I sort of get the impression that Stasio's Italian Deli & Market is a work in progress and that the people doing the work aren't exactly sure themselves what the final product will be.
But for all the tentativeness in the air, the food that I've sampled so far is solidly good....

Steak on Fire
The Steer took over the former Bauern-Stube German restaurant space, which before that was a Pizza Hut hut. You can guess from the name that this is a steakhouse. We're not talking find cuts of meat or fine dining, but the prices are reasonable....

There are several restaurants in the area that specialize in Asian street fare, but Sticky Rice sticks to the foods of Laos. The title dish comes in a plastic bag instead of a bamboo steamer as it might on the streets of Vientiane, but you eat it the same, by pulling off a bit with your fingers and dipping it into one of the provided sauces....
