Scott's Review
Poke Hana is one of the more recent entries among the the local poke providers. It occupies a rather spartan but colorful spot in a storefront on East Colonial Drive in the Mills 50 district. One supposes the decor is meant to approximate a beachside shack somewhere in Hawaii. There are long narrow tables (too narrow, really, for two people to sit across from one another) with yellow and white metal chairs that no one would ever look at and think, "Boy, those sure look comfortable." Touches of neon, ceiling fans with a rattan look, and a projector splashing a video of surfers on one of the walls completes the Maui-like mien.... Read more

It’s a full service restaurant with a spartan but tasteful decor and exceptionally friendly service. I stopped in for a quick lunch just to check the place out and ordered the Mussaman Curry with chicken. Although the dish’s listing on the menu has a chili pepper next to it, this mussaman was mild, which is actually the way it should be. It has as its base a creamy coconut milk that’s fried with a paste filled with myriad spices, including cardamom, peppers, dried chili powder and cilantro. ... Read more

Scott's Review
There are several restaurants in the area that specialize in Asian street fare, but Sticky Rice sticks to the foods of Laos. The title dish comes in a plastic bag instead of a bamboo steamer as it might on the streets of Vientiane, but you eat it the same, by pulling off a bit with your fingers and dipping it into one of the provided sauces.... Scott's Review
I cringed just a little when I first heard about Too Much Sauce, not because of the name, which is indeed cringeworthy, but because it is yet another in the long line of assemblage restaurants. Maybe it wasn't a cringe; it might have been an eye roll. I definitely sighed. But I found this new restaurant in the Mills 50 district to be absolutely charming and much less annoying than the average choose-from-each-column concept. And, not incidentally, the food was good.... Read more

It's more bar than it is restaurant, and there is no table service – order food and drinks from the bartender and someone will bring your order to you. The food goes beyond bar food, however, and it's all quite good.... Read more

Scott's Review
Yamasan Sushi & Grill is the latest restaurant to open at Mills Park. It’s a small restaurant with a very large and ambitious menu. Besides a full offering of sushi, Yamasan has hibachi and stone grill cook-at-your-table options as well as one-pot cooking, such as shabu shabu and sukiyaki. There are seven soups and 26 each of hot or cold appetizers (not counting variations on individual items, such as the Tuna Tartare that may be ordered a la Nobu or Morimoto).... Read more
