Professional Culinary Institute holds open house Saturday

Thinking about a new career in the culinary arts? Professional Culinary Institute, Orlando’s newest school for chefs, is holding an open house Saturday, January 10, for prospective students.

The open house is at the school’s facilities, part of Doc’s Restaurant, 1315 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors can tour the facilities and talk to some of the principals, including PCI president Richard Battista, master sommelier Andrew McNamara and Doc’s chef Neil Connolly. Connolly will also conduct a cooking demonstration.

Orlando is the second location for PCI, which is headquartered in Campbell, Calif. Courses will be offered in culinary arts, baking and pastry, and hospitatlity management. A certified sommelier program will also be part of the ongoing curriculum.

The first classes are scheduled to begin Feb. 3.
