New Restaurant Planned for Former Harvey’s Bistro

Written By Scott Joseph On December 6, 2010

Watch for a new restaurant to occupy the former Harvey’s Bistro space in downtown Orlando soon. Terrace 390 Bistro is slated to open after the first of the year, although no date has been set. The name is derived from the address: 390 N. Orange Ave. in the Bank of America building. (Naming a restaurant after the address appears to be a fad; as I reported last week, Pine 22 is to be the name of a new restaurant in the former Black Olive space, 22 E. Pine St.) I’m hoping the Terrace designation means the new owners will be allowed to use the patio space in front of the restaurant, a large sunken urban area that I’m told was off limits when Harvey’s Bistro was the tenant. Harvey’s, of course, got its name from a statue of a dancing rabbit that graced the corner of the building and which was removed (and damaged in the process) a few years ago. Although the menu will feature bistro fare, no chef is currently attached. Word also comes that Wa, the very good Japanese near Universal Studios, has closed. Wa might have benefitted from using its address in its name — it was difficult to find it. Although even having the address wasn’t always helpful because the restaurant was not visible from the street. Remember, potential restaurant owners: location, location, location. And visibility. {fblike}
