Big Fin Seafood, the elaborate restaurant at Dellagio Town Center on Restaurant Row, has been sold. Philippe Villain, who also owns Russell’s on Lake Ivanhoe and a new brand called Little Fin in the Villages, said he sold Big Fin last week to Estein USA, an investment company located on Apopka Vineland Road in Orlando.

In a phone call Tuesday afternoon, a spokesman for Estein said Big Fin will continue to operate the same with the current front- and back-of-house staff in place. Estein also owns and operates the private London House next door at Dellagio.

Villain, who would only say it was a “great deal” and that he was “very happy,” said he spld the restaurant to focus on growing his other existing brands, including Little Fin, which had, obviously, been developed as an offshoot of Big Fin. A non-compete clause with the new owners will prevent Villain from opening a Little Fin within five miles of the Dr. Phillips restaurant.

Big Fin opened in late 2009 as Big Fin Seafood Kitchen and was originally owned by Bobby Moore, who based the restaurant on one he had in Winter Park Village called Beluga. In fact, Big Fin was originally meant to be called Beluga but the name was changed after a tax lien closed the Winter Park restaurant.
