Grande Lakes Orlando will kick off its popular Fall on the Farm program on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. It will continue each weekend through the rest of October.

It takes place on the resort’s 18,000-square-foot Whisper Creek Farm, a perfect bucolic setting that includes a working vegetable patch from which many of the Grande Lakes chefs source their produce.

Each day’s events will include a hayride, arts and crafts, a maze and family games.

There will also be a pumpkin patch for picking the perfect pumpkin that kids can then carve or paint under the supervision of award-winning culinary artist at carver Victor Dagatan. Take your pumpkin beyond triangle-cut eyes this year.

You can also get instructions from Capt. Mark Benson, Grande Lakes Orlando’s director of fly fishing, and learn about birds of prey (maybe even hold one) from the resort’s master falconer.

And of course there will be food from the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott culinary teams, plus a farmer’s market with locally produced items such as honey, jams, barbecue sauces and meat rubs.

And so you don’t think it’s all for the kids, adult beverages will also be available.

Tickets are $60 per person ($40 if you’re staying at the resort); kids ages two and under are free (that is, they get in free; you may not take one home with you). And because space is limited, reservations are required. You can get your tickets at the Fall on the Farm event website.

By the way, don’t forget that Grande Lakes’ Curated Experiences is this weekend, Oct. 7-9. It’s a Michelin themed event with starred chefs such as John Tesar and Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Click for more info.
