Well, Halloween has waned, so you know what that means: time for the real holidays to begin.

So, as they sing in “Mame”: “Haul out the holly; fill up the punchbowl; tote that fudge, lift that…” I may have confused my musicals.

But the point is, we need these holidays and we need to get back to enjoying them.

Our friends at Grande Lakes Orlando agree, and they’ve put together a fun list of events, activities and special dinners to celebrate the season.

Grande Lakes Gingerbread

Starting with Thanksgiving, with dinners at Knife & Spoon or Highball & Harvest at the Ritz-Carlton and, over at the JW Marriott, a farm-to-table feast at Primo or a holiday spread at Citron. There’s also a turkey to-go option from the kitchens at the Ritz if you want to eat at home but don’t want to do the cooking.

Grande Lakes luminaria

Beginning the day after Thanksgiving and continuing every weekend through New Year’s, Grande Lakes will have strolling carolers and luminaries by the lake. The kids can ride the Grande Lakes Express to see the sites while the adults enjoy the seasonal beverage carts (spiked milk and cookies, anyone?).

There’s also the return of the popular Santa’s Teddy Bear Tea, a traditional tea with craft ornaments, a gift for the kids and a visit from Santa, of course.

Another popular activity, the Gingerbread School, will be offered on weekends with members of the resort’s pastry team assisting you in the construction of your own edible abode.

For Christmas Day dining, both Highball & Harvest and Knife & Spoon will offer a holiday meal, buffet at H&H and a special menu at K&S.

Citron and Primo at the JW will offer both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dining options.

Then on New Year’s Eve, more dining options, a party in the beautiful Lobby Lounge, and fireworks at midnight.

There are lots of other things going on between now and the New Year’s Day Brunch at H&H and you can see it all in the Holidays at the Grande Lakes digital brochure.

We hope you find our reviews and news articles useful and entertaining. It has always been our goal to assist you in making informed decisions when spending your dining dollars. If we’ve helped you in any way, please consider making a contribution to help us continue our journalism. Thank you.
