Father’s Day Dining in Orlando

Historically, Father’s Day isn’t as big of a dining-out holiday as Mother’s Day. Or Arbor Day, for that matter. I suppose it’s because – also historically but stereotypically, as well – moms do the cooking in the family. So taking her out to brunch or dinner on Mother’s Day is meant to give her a day out of the kitchen.

Well, dads do a lot of cooking, too. And even if your dad isn’t that much of a cook, you can still treat the old man to a nice dinner.

(By the way, I never once in my life referred to my father as my old man. I always thought it was a derogatory term and if I called him that he’d smack me. Even now – he’s 93 – I still can’t do it. So happy Father’s Day, Dad!)

At the JW Marriott Grande Lakes Orlando, Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen is offering a special a la carte Father’s Day brunch with such things as steak & eggs, birria tacos, smashed brunch burgers and brioche French toast. If your dad is a beer connoisseur, he’ll enjoy the selections from the onsite brewery. Whisper Creek Farm: The Kitchen is at 4040 Central Florida Parkway, Orlando. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 407-393-4755 for reservations.

Mia’s Italian Kitchen is offering its Bottomless Brunch (be sure to tell your dad that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to wear pants). In addition, Mia’s will offer Sierra Nevada Little Things Hazy IPA for $4. Mia’s is at 8717 International Drive, Orlando. Brunch is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reserve online or call 407-601-7130.

There’s a lot going on at the Promenade at Sunset Walk. At Rock & Brews, dads receive a free commemorative glass Both Yeoman’s Cask & Lion and Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza are offering fathers a $10 bounceback (a coupon to be used on a future visit). GameTime has a barbecue rib plate for $9.99 and a Skrewball Whiskey “New” Fashioned for $6.99. Then finish off at River Street Sweets and get a free candy apple with the purchase of same or buy a pound of praalines or loggerheads and get a half-pound free. Promenade at Sunset Walk is at 3251 Margaritaville Blvd., Kissimmee. Visit the website for dining details.
