On this last day of 2020, I’d like to thank the people who make Scott Joseph’s Orlando Restaurant Guide possible.
David Clow is my webmaster and software and internet genius. He keeps the site up and running and is there when the inevitable glitch happens. He’ll have a problem fixed before I can type the third exclamation point on my message calling for HELP!!!
Nicole Spooner of Mpact Orlando Marketing is – and always has been – the sole authorized advertising representative for SJO. As you know, I have a very strict advertising policy (and if you don’t know that, you can read it here). Nicole knows to approach only those businesses that meet my quality standards. And if you think that’s all just talk, or print as the case may be, Nicole can tell you how many potential advertisers are turned down each year simply because they don’t qualify (and how many over the years were not asked to renew when their quality flagged). It’s a promise I made to you when I began this project nearly 12 years ago: The ads you see on the edges of these pages are only for businesses I recommend. (And if you’re a business owner who would like to reach the astute readers of SJO, contact Nicole for details.)
And I must thank those very advertisers. Operating a website, especially one dedicated to restaurant reviews, is a costly endeavor. I don’t have a printing press or the costs of physical delivery, but there are internet hosting fees, maintenance costs and software updates. And no other publication in Central Florida offers an average of two restaurant reviews each week. That costs money. The advertising fees make it possible.
So although you see the advertisers’ banners strewn around this page, I’m publishing all of them below, too. I hope you’ll take note of them, and when you visit one, please mention that you saw the ad here. It means a lot.
But before I display those banners, I also want to thank you. If you didn’t show up as readers, there would be no reason to do any of this. Thank you for your continued trust, for signing up for my weekly News from the Flog eletter, for your comments and feedback, and for the kind contributions many of you have made to support our journalism.
Thanks again, and best wishes for a Happy New Year.
Scott
