Bullet Point Buffet: Big nights out

  • Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant and The Boathouse at Disney Springs have been named to OpenTable’s list of the top 100 restaurants in America for a Big Night Out. According to Caroline Potter, OpenTable’s chief dining officer, a title I want to hold, “The list spotlights the restaurants that have all the ingredients for the perfect big night out — upbeat energy, innovative cocktails, robust wine lists, and, of course, outstanding food.” Pretty much sums up Raglan Road; I may have visited the Boathouse on an off night.
  • Our friend Jamie McFadden of Cuisiniers Catering will be one of the dancing participants at Sweet Dreams: Dancing for TRANSitional Housing, sponsored by Bliss Cares. The event, on July 13, will raise funds and awareness for people in the transgender community, many of whom are homeless. The event will pair 11 amateur dancers with professionals who will compete for trophies. You can get ticket information here. You can also pledge to support McFadden at that link, too.
  • The Travel Channel cited Teak Neighborhood Grill as its Florida selection in its 50 States of Burgers feature.
  • SeaWorld is offering free beer beginning Saturday, May 25, through Sept. 2. Just go to Mama’s Pretzel Kitchen Patio Bar between 10:30 a.m. and an hour before whenever the park closes and you can claim one complimentary beer per day. Sorry, kids, must be 21 to participate.
  • Tank Brewing Co. of Miami has signed on as the craft beer sponsor for Icon Park. Icon Park is what they’re calling the International Drive attraction with the big Ferris Wheel. It used to be called the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye. Just the Eye before that, I think. As far as I know there is no plan to rename it Tank Eye. But I wouldn’t disapprove.
