  • Pre-preview: Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month has historically been during the month of September. For years now it has started earlier with a preview week. Big Fin Seafood Kitchen is taking it further and has started offering its MagDinMo menu now. You can see the menu at the Restaurant Row seafooder’s website.
  • Orlando is getting another seafood restaurant. Slapfish, a fast-casual California franchise, will open its first Florida location soon. If you hear a slapping sound coming from the Waterford Lakes area, you can assume it has opened.
  • Rustic Table has closed. This was the restaurant that changed its name from Park Social earlier in the year. That really was about all it changed and it wasn’t enough. There is talk online that it may move somewhere with better rent rates.

  • Ferg’s Depot has closed in the old Church Street Depot. Raise your hand if you didn’t know that Ferg’s Depot had still been open. Raise your hand if you’ve never heard of Ferg’s Depot. You didn’t miss anything.
  • Enough with the closings. Will’s Pub, the Mills 50 watering hole, will celebrate its 23d anniversary with a party on Sept. 1.
  • The former Red Mug diner space on Pine Street in downtown Orlando will become Robinson Cocktail Room. Don’t know if the Robinson in question is of the Swiss Family or Caruso type. The new bar is from Team Market Group, which already operates bars in the area, including Mathers Social Gathering. Wonder if they know the Ferg’s Depot space is available?
  • STK now serves LNCH.
  • Boilerplate bullet: Foxtail Coffee has opened its ___ location in the _______ district.
  • Rosen Hotels will join the list of businesses banning plastic straws.
