Mitchell’s Fish Market Closes

Written By Scott Joseph On November 6, 2017

mitchell logoMitchell’s Fish Market in Winter Park has closed. Sunday was its last day, according to general manager David Barber.

The restaurant has occupied the corner space across from the movieplex in Winter Park Village since June 2010.

The chain was founded and named for Cameron Mitchell. It was sold to Ruth’s Chris Steak House, now Ruth’s Hospitality Group in 2008 who in turn sold it to Landry’s, Inc, in 2014.

Barber said Monday that staff members are being encouraged to apply to other local Landry’s brands, which include Bubba Gump’s, Oceanaire Seafood Room and Landry’s Seafood. He did not say that jobs at other properties would be guaranteed to the workers let go.

Before Mitchell’s, the restaurant was known as Blackfin, an independently owned seafood restaurant. It was a restaurant called Kovar’s when Winter Park Village first opened in 2000.
