Paxia, the modern Mexican restaurant in College Park, has been sold. The new owner is Jerry Peppy, who recently sold his restaurant in Delray Beach, Casa di Pepe. Paxia has been closed for the past few days while Peppy and his employees do some “painting, cleaning, just some freshening up,” he told me. He expects the restaurant to reopen Wednesday.
It will still be Paxia for now, but once all the documents have been signed and approved, the name will change to The Peppy Bistro. Has a certain bounce to it, doesn’t it?
Casa di Pepe was strictly Italian, but Peppy said he will keep some of the favorite Mexican items from Paxia and add some Italian, Spanish, American — “A little bit of everything,” he said. When asked what a signature item of the Peppy Bistro might be, he said Grilled Octopus and Shrimp Salad over mesclun greens. Sounds good.
Paxia is at 2611 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, which is also the address the Peppy Bistro will have.
