The Don and Lorraine Freeberg Foundation, a California organization, has pledged $3 million for expansion of Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee. Don Freeberg was the founder of Sierra Land Group, which owns and manages three all-suite hotel properties in Orlando, including the Caribe Royale, home of the Venetian Room restaurant.

Last month Sierra Land Group’s president and CEO. Shirley Hough, presented a check for $1 million to Pamela Landwirth, president of Give Kids the World, a charitable organization that offers accommodations and travel assistance to children with special needs. Hough also pledged an additional $2 million over the next two years. The money will be used for building expansions at the Village.

The Freeberg Foundation gave GKTW $380,000 in 2013, and employees of the Orlando hotels, which also include Buena Vista Suites and Embassy Suites Orlando-Lake Buena Vista South, raised an additional $100,000 through fundraising activities.
