The latest 4Rivers Smokehouse location had its official opening today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring owner and head pit master, John Rivers, and local dignitaries. In comments to the assembled crowd before the ceremony, Rivers explained his business model and how important it was that he give back to the community through faith-based initiatives. Later, Longwood mayor Joe Durso quipped that the opening of the popular restaurant was “certainly the answer to Longwood’s economic prayers.”
The new location has 82 workers. There are now over 250 employees in the 4Rivers empire, which includes the original location on Fairbanks Avenue in Winter Park and another that opened earlier this year in Winter Garden. Unique to the Longwood restaurant is a full bakery and ice cream shop. The new restaurant is in the Longwood Village Shoppes, 1855 W. State Road 434. The phone number is 407-474-8377.
The above photo shows something rarely seen in a 4Rivers Smokehouse: empty spaces. The reason? Doors hadn’t opened for lunch yet.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony included Longwood mayor, Joe Durso (with comically large scissors).
The newest 4Rivers Smokehouse includes a Sweet Shop with pastries and ice cream.
