Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse will have its grand opening on International Drive Tuesday — finally! It was in March last year that I first told you that the New York business was planning its first Florida location in an existing building on I-Drive near SeaWorld and the Beachline exit. I guess the buildout was a little more problematic than the owners had originally thought.
The restaurant has been in soft-opening mode for a couple of weeks and will have a VIP Grand Opening Event Tuesday, April 19, in support of Harbor House from 5 to 9 p.m. Cost to attend the grand opening is $20. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
This Delmonico’s should not be confused with the legendary Delmonico’s Restaurant in Manhattan or the similarly named business owned by Emeril Lagasse. Here’s how a press release describes Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse:
“Delmonico’s offers a comfortable and fun environment designed with life-size caricatures of famous Italian sports and movie celebrities on the walls so guests may “dine” with Annette Funicello and her sweetheart Frankie Avalon or sit down to “share a meal” with the Godfather or the Sopranos. At the heart of the restaurant is a large and inviting bar area featuring flat-screen TVs to catch a favorite game or daily Happy Hour specials. Delmonico’s also offers outdoor and private dining space with four banquet rooms that can accommodate parties of 8-60 guests. The Rat Pack and Godfather Rooms can accommodate parties of up to 8 guests. The Sinatra Room is a cozy room that features pictures of the star throughout his career as well as framed CDs of his albums. Perfect for intimate gatherings, celebrations or business meetings for up to 10 people, The Sinatra Room also features a flat-screen television that can be connected to a computer for presentations. For larger parties, showers, luncheons, team meetings and more, guests can reserve the Wanna Be Room that can accommodate up to 60 guests.”
The restaurant’s signature item is a 24-ounce angus Delmonico steak that sells for $19.99. Other menu items range from $11.99 to $28.99.
