Artist’s redering of the bar at Ran-Getsu, currently under construction in Maitland.

Ran-Getsu, the sushi and Japanese restaurant that closed its longtime International Drive location one year ago, is scheduled to reopen next month, this time in Maitland, in a building overlooking Lake Lily.

The 9,000-square-foot restaurant will have a patio overlooking Lake Lily. Hector Ponce, a partner in Ran-Getsu at Lake Lily, describes it as a “one-of-a-kind, urban/ modern dining and entertainment experience.”

According to a spokeswoman, the restaurant will feature top quality Kobe and Tajima beef, a sushi bar and seafood during lunch and dinner services. The patio area, overlooking Lake Lily Park, will host regular cocktail hour events. After dinner service, the restaurant will morph into a high energy club with special lighting, music, and a late night small bite menu.

In anticipation of an April opening, the restaurant is hiring 50 personnel, including servers, cooks and cocktail waitresses. “We are looking for quality service industry professionals who will be well rewarded for their experience, personality and enthusiasm,” says Ponce.

Those interested in applying for a position with the new restaurant should visit Rangetsu.com for an application (which is about all the site currently offers in the way of information).

Ran-Getsu is a 60-plus-year-old, family-owned business that began in Tokyo. The family operated a similarly-named restaurant south of Orlando for more than 25 years before deciding to change and update the concept.
