Restaurants to allow customers to carry guns

Written By Administrator On April 7, 2009

Cooks in Tennessee restaurants are apt to be a bit nervous when a customer asks to see the chef if a bill passes in the state senate. According to an article at commercialappeal.com, the Tennessee house has passed legislation Monday that would allow people with handgun-carry permits to take them into restaurants serving alcohol. That should help reduce the likelihood of a squabble over who gets the last biscuit in the basket.

The bill will prohibit guns in restaurants that are age-restricted under the Tennessee law because smoking is allowed, meaning bars. And guns will not be permitted from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. in restaurants serving alcohol because during those hours there is likely to be more alcohol than food consumed.

I don’t know if this is a good idea or not. I can just see a waiter opening a bottle of champagne and having 20 gunslingers draw their weapons.
