Have a gift card to Manuel’s on the 28th purchased from Costco? You can get a refund

Written By Administrator On February 28, 2009

The owners of Manuel’s on the 28th and Harvey’s Bistro are talking with some other restaurants to work up a plan to  honor the now-closed eateries gift cards. But if your gift card was one of those that was sold through Costco, you could get a full refund.

Flog reader Mitch Kispert pointed out in a comment about the February 16 closings that Costco has a “no questions asked” return policy. I callled the Costco warehouse in Winter Park and spoke to Mike Jensen, one of the managers there, and asked if the cards could be returned. “Absolutley,” he said.

The only touchy part is that if you’re holding on to one of these cards there’s a pretty good chance that it was given to you by someone else. You may have to ask the person who gifted the card to you where it came from.

If your card is not from Costco, hang on to it and I’ll give you an update regarding other area restaurants that will honor the cards as soon as I get the info.

Update, 11:55 a.m.: When you go to Costco for a refund, keep in mind that the dollar amount on the card is not necessarily what the purchase price. For example, a $100 gift card might have been purchased for $85. Don’t be surprised when you’re offered less than the amount the card says. Just remember: in most instances, the card would be worthless.
