Let’s try not to make a pun using the restaurant’s name, but Newk’s Eatery is closing its Orlando location just short of its first anniversary.
According to a manager, Tony Ottovegio, the restaurant, located in Waterford Oaks shopping center, will close at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 16. It opened last July 20.
“We aren’t bringing in enough money in sales,” Ottovegio said Saturday.
The Jackson, Miss., based chain had planned 10 Orlando locations when it announced its opening last year. Those plans are assumably in doubt.
Newk’s, which has dozens of locations, primarily in the Southeast, serves sandwiches, salads and pizzas.
