Conway Cafe

Written By Scott Joseph On August 1, 2013

Conway Cafe

Had to make a trip to the airport the other day and unfortunately it was not to get on a plane to go somewhere. So on my way back I stopped at Conway Cafe, the little breakfast and lunch spot on Hoffner Avenue.

I hadn’t been in ages and it was nice to see that it looks just as warmly worn as it always has. It’s the sort of place where you expect to see a table of old guys wearing ball caps who look like they meet there every day of their lives for coffee and conversation. And sure enough, there they were in the center of the room.

I ordered the Country Breakfast, the country, I assume, being the United States because it was more food than a person should eat at one sitting.

But it was good. It consisted of two eggs, sausage or bacon, and biscuits and gravy. I ordered my eggs over easy — one came with the yolk broken, but heck, I was just going to break it myself — and sausage patties instead of links; I’m pretty sure I made the right choice there. The biscuits were nice and fluffy and the gravy had good chunks of sausage and peppery flakes.

It was nice to see Conway Cafe still doing well after all these years.

Conway Cafe is at 4542 Hoffner Ave., Orlando, just east of Conway Road. It is open for breakfast daily and for lunch Monday through Friday. It doesn’t have a website, but you can see the menu at its Urbanspoon listing. The phone number is 407-240-2524.
