If you like good Chinese food, this should hit the spot, but traditionalists should take caution. I thought the Peking duck was delicious, and, in fact, so did my companion, a Chinese national. But the duck wasn't presented in the traditional way. Usually the meat and crispy fried skin are served separately, along with bread, green onions and hoisin sauce. One dips the green onion in the sauce, grabs some skin, some duck meat and a small piece o ...

Now in its second decade in the address that is also its name, this Park Avenue casual restaurant recently expanded into the space next door (yes, they had permission). They also opened a second location on Central Boulevard across from Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Oddly, that one is called 310 Lakeside, even though that is not its address. Oh, well, there's only one Saks on Fifth Avenue, too. The key to its longevity is something of a mystery ...

A real neighborhoody kind of gathering place with beer and wine and (mostly) sandwiches, although the market does feature a nightly "blue plate" special that might range from meat loaf to pasta. Almost all seating is outdoors. ...

An odd name – it comes from a book about Florida by Patrick Smith. But it’s a good restaurant, though not the best steakhouse. If you’re a prime rib lover, this is your place, but be prepared to pay dearly. The restaurant has been known to close on evenings when the hotel's capacity is low, so always call first. Though it is situated in the Rosen Shingle Creek hotel's golf clubhouse, the atmosphere is more along the lines of a hunting lodg ...

College Park and Adriatico are a perfect match. The Orlando neighborhood certainly has some good, or good enough, restaurants. But it’s been missing a quaint trattoria, the sort of Italian place with a mom-and-pop feel, one that’s comfortable, homey and immediately familiar. A welcoming spot where the food is good but beside the point. That’s Adriatico. The “mom and pop” owners are Marco and Rosetta Cudazzo. She runs the dining room, gree ...

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Orlando. In fact, I come here only for breakfast, although lunch items are perfectly OK. But the omelets, biscuits and gravy, thick rashers of bacon, and plate-sized pancakes are really the stars.I was annoyed when, a couple of years ago, the cafe adopted a buffet-only policy for Sundays. The food was still good, but not the same. Now you have a choice: order off the menu or belly up to the food bar. ...

Amura continues to improve on a good thing with its latest location. Although it wants to be considered a chophouse, this is a sushi spot. If beef is what you want, the Kobe steak may be worth a really big splurge. But for roughly the same price as the Kobe steak, my guests and I feasted on the Heathrow boat ($87.99), a small yacht decked out with sushi, sashimi and assorted hand rolls. Onboard were an Africa roll with yellowtail and tuna; crab Ra ...
