This weekend is the Latin Food & Wine Festival, one of my favorite events of the year. The two-day affair begins Saturday, Oct. 15, with Savor the Night, a walkabout food, wine and cocktail tasting at City Commons Plaza in front of City Hall, 400 S. Orange Ave. I’m honored to once again be invited to host Savor the Night along with Jorge Estevez of WFTV Channel 9 and WRDQ TV 27.

Guests at the Saturday event will savor more than the night. Food vendors, including 4 Rivers Smokehouse, Blackfire Brazilian Steakhouse, Cooper’s Hawk, Pio Pio Latin Cuisine and others, will be dishing up samples of their menus. There will also be wines and plenty of cocktails, notably from Rums of Puerto Rico, one of the evening’s sponsors.

And music, of course. There will be live bands, Spanish dancers and in between it all, DJ Memo will be filling the night with Latin tunes.

Tickets’ are $75 for members of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando and $95 for nonmembers. Or you can purchase tickets in pairs at $130. Price includes wine glass, souvenir photo and parking. Savor the Night is from 6 to 10 p.m.

On Sunday, Oct. 16, the event moves across the street to Seneff Plaza in front of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. That’s a big space, but believe me when I say the plaza will be filled with more food, drink and music — plus a lot of other fun things, like food demonstrations and vendors giving things away.

The Latin Food & Wine Festival is free to attend, with food and drink sold by the vendors. It will be from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, and to purchase tickets to Saturday’s Savor the Night, visit the Latin Food & Wine Festival website.

And click the video below to see some of the sights and sounds of last year’s event. For the tastes and smells, you’ll have to show up yourself this year.
