Wine Bar George 1 Year Out

Written By Scott Joseph On October 10, 2016

MiliotesGeorge Miliotes is expected to announce Monday that his Disney Springs project, Wine Bar George, is on track to open approximately one year from now.

The wine bar, which was first announced here in December, will feature premium wines by the glass and a small menu of light bites, including charcuterie and cheese plates.

Miliotes is a member of the exclusive club of wine professionals who have reached the top level of certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers. He began his wine education while still a teenager working in his father’s restaurant, Chris’s House of Beef, a popular steakhouse that was on John Young Parkway just north of Colonial Drive.

Along with chef Clifford Pleau, Miliotes opened the California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in 1995. The two were hired as a team by Darden Restaurants, in 2002, to develop a new concept that would become Seasons 52.

Wine Bar George will abut the building that houses Raglan Road. Miliotes recently met with the principals involved with the popular Irish restaurant to discuss those details and said that the meeting went very well.

It would seem that Miliotes is already being considered part of the Disney Springs family. At Saturday’s Party for the Senses, part of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, the theme for the weekly event featured most of the restaurants of Disney Springs. Miliotes had a booth there and was pouring Triton Tinto de Toro 2014 and offering guests slices of Manchego cheese.
