Dad’s Day Dining

Written By Scott Joseph On June 14, 2016

Mother’s Day is traditionally one of the busiest days for restaurants. Father’s Day? Not as much.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t take your dad out for a hearty meal on Father’s Day. And the good news is, you probably won’t have too much trouble getting a reservation, even this late. (By the way, Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19.)

And it also doesn’t mean that some restaurants are at the ready with some enticing deals for dear ol’ dad. Here are some that have come across my desk:

Tapa Toro, 8441 International Drive, Orlando.  Join Tapa Toro for a Spanish-Style celebration this Father’s Day! For just $30, Dad can enjoy all-you-can-eat steak & chorizo paella with chicharrones and flan. A free 20oz beer is also included for all dads. Reservations can be made here and walk-ins are also welcome.

Taverna Opa, 9101 International Drive) , Orlando. Dads eat free this Father’s Day! (With a purchase of any family style dinner for four.) This includes hot and cold appetizers, meat and seafood platters and desserts all served family style. The belly dancing show will start at noon on Sunday, June 15. Reservations can be made here and walk-ins are also welcome.

TR Fire Grill, 1035 N. Orlando Ave., Winter Park. TR’s prime rib is being offered all day (usually available only after 4 p.m.). What’s more, the day starts and hour eariler, at 10 a.m. And, it’s Yappy Hour, so Dad can bring the dog to sit on the patio, because dad loves his dog. Not as much as his kids. I’m pretty sure. But, man, does he treat that dog better than he ever did me. (Oops, did I say that out loud?)

The Osprey Tavern (4899 New Broad St) Come out and celebrate Father’s Day with The Osprey Tavern from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19th! The restaurant will be offering its brunch menu which includes favorites such as: the Canadian Bacon Benedict (tomato jam, roasties, delta asparagus), the Sausage Burger (beef sausage, english muffin, avocado, fried egg, roasties) and the Tavern Breakfast (Canadian bacon, sausage, baked beans, fried eggs and roasted tomatoes). Reservations can be made online and walk-ins are also welcome.

Shake Shack (All locations) Free custard to all father’s on June 19. Not sure how they can prove I’m not a father if I go in there and demand a free custard. But they’re Shake Shack, they probably have ways of finding out.

4R Sweet Shop (All Orlando locations) Beginning June 13th, Sweet Shop will be offering two Father’s Day Treats! Try the German Chocolate Cake Bombs—classic German Chocolate Cake filled with a gooey and pecan frosting)—or the Jack Daniel’s Cake Balls—Double Chocolate Cake mixed with house frosting and a splash of Jack Daniel’s, then dipped in chocolate and decorated with dads in mind.

Sprinkles (Disney Springs) Does your dad have a sweet tooth? Enjoy a sweet Father’s Day this year with Sprinkles’ BOGO deal on Sunday, June 19th! Dads and kids can enjoy a free cupcake when they visit the Disney Springs location anytime from 10 a.m. to midnight. But why stop there? Bring your whole family to enjoy the sweetness! Contact Sprinkles at (407) 560-9192 for any questions.
