Les Chefs de France and Bistro de Paris

chefs_de_franceLes Chefs de France remains my favorite inside-the-park restaurant. On a recent lunch there, I was treated to a blanquette de veau that could remove that location qualification. That dish would be a favorite in any restaurant in town.

Chefs de France is again a deserving finalist in Theme Park Insider’s search for Best Theme Park Restaurant for 2010. So is its sister restaurant (or maybe that’s brother restaurant -- it’s so difficult to tell), Bistro de Paris.

Upstairs from Chefs de France, the Bistro is a little less manic, a little more refined. Specialties include rack of lamb, pan-seared lobster and filet mignon. This is the place millions of visitors try their first escargot, though perhaps somewhat fewer are brave enough to try the sweetbreads. Those who do have the courage will not be disappointed. And this is the sort of food you should try when you’re on vacation. Burgers, pizzas, steaks -- you can get those anywhere. Vacations should be about adventure and visiting places you’ve never been before, including new culinary destinations. I encourage you to try either of these restaurants for an authentic taste of France.

(And by the way, if Bistro is on your list of places to check out, or if it's already one of your favorites, I suggest you visit soon. The Bistro as it is now may not exist a year from now, but you didn’t hear that from me.)

Service is proffered by young French nationals who will be happy to talk about their country as well as answer questions about the food. And don't be afraid to try out your high school French dialogue on them.
