There are a lot of events going on this weekend. I’ve already told you about the Food & Wine Festival at Baldwin Park. But before you head there to sample all the great nibbles and sips, you might want to stop by the COOK Orlando event at Lake Eola Park.

This is the second year for COOK O, which is a benefit for Human Rights Campaign. Once again, HRC president Joe Solmonese will be on hand as a celebrity judge, joined this year by Elizabeth Falkner, chef and owner of Citizen Cake and Orson in San Francisco. They’ll be judging a cook-off competition among some of Orlando’s chefs. I was there last year and it was a fun event.

Friday evening is COOK Orlando’s VIP gala dinner, this year to be held at the Rusty Spoon in downtown Orlando. Falkner will join the Spoon’s Kathleen Blake to prepare the dinner.

You can get a weekend VIP pass to the gala dinner and the cooking competition. Tickets to the individual events are $150 for the dinner Friday, $75 for VIP area seating Saturday (includes valet parking and a goodie bag) or general admission to the cooking competition for $35 in advance or $45 at the door.

The dinner Friday is at 7 p.m.; the Saturday cook-off, which will be in the farmers market area in the southeast section of the park, is from 1 to 5 p.m. Here’s a link to the COOK Orlando website for more information and to purchase tickets.
