Hear Scott on WMFE; Today’s Topic: Food Trucks

Written By Scott Joseph On July 15, 2011

wmfe_logo_blueI’m pleased to announce that, starting today, I will be contributing to 90.7 WMFE on a weekly basis. No, I don’t mean that I’ve set up an automatic withdrawal from my checking account to support the local public radio station (although that’s not a bad idea). I mean that each week I will have a segment on food, restaurants and dining at 5:45 during the Friday afternoon All Things Considered newscast. (The segment will be rebroadcast Saturday mornings at 9:35.)

Today I’ll be chatting with 90.7’s Judith Smelser about the food truck craze and some of the noteworthy trucks about town. A lot of people are still befuddled by the whole food truck trend; we’ll try to de-befuddle them.

We’ll chat about my reviews of Big Wheel Provisions, Firehouse BBQ, Crooked Spoon and Korean BBQ Taco Box, among other.

And just as a reminder, those of you who want to check out some of the food trucks when they gather in one place, here’s a schedule:

  • Tuesdays at Lake Lily, Maitland, 6 to 9 p.m.
Wednesdays, behind the Firestone Live venue, Orange Avenue and Concord Street, downtown Orlando, 6 to 10 p.m.
  • TheDailyCity.com Orlando Food Truck Bazaar, Fashion Square Mall, July 17, 6 to 10 p.m.; and August 21, 6 to 10 p.m.
  • TheDailyCity.com Oviedo Food Truck Bazaar, Oviedo Mall, August 14, 6 to 10 p.m.

To hear about other food truck events, and to be the first to know about SJO Dining Deals (and to be eligible for my drawings of absolutely free gift certificates to really good restaurants), be sure to sign up for my unannoyingly occasional newslettter. Join me here.
