Updated to include name Swine & Sons Provisions

Cask & Larder, the Southern-style restaurant owned by chefs James and Julie Petrakis, has arranged to take over a storefront near the Fairbanks Avenue restaurant and offer charcuterie, sandwiches and, possibly, the beer they brew in the restaurant. The new business will be called Swine & Sons Provisions.

The space is across the parking lot at 595 W. Fairbanks and was previously a mobile phone repair shop called We Fix Phones. The owners of that business were charged by Winter Park police in June with buying and selling stolen electronics, so the lease was available. The storefront shares the building with a dry cleaning business, which will remain.

Rhys Gawlak, who has worked with the Petrakises at Cask & Larder and the Ravenous Pig, will head up the charcuterie operation. Gawlak and his wife, Alexia, had originally planned to be one of the opening businesses at East End Market with a shop called Cuts & Craft, but they dropped those plans when the market’s opening was delayed. Alexia Gawlak is now the chef de cuisine at Siro: Urban Italian Kitchen at the Marriott Orlando World Center.

Besides charcuterie and sandwiches, the new operation, whose name has not yet been released, will offer other comestibles. One remaining question is whether the new shop can sell the beer that is brewed at the restaurant next door. There are hurdles put up by state regulators that must be cleared for that to happen.
